Applicants for registration for all grade levels Pre-K4-7 are considered on a first-come basis with the following acceptance order:
- Siblings of currently enrolled St. Columba students
- Baptized Catholic Children of parents/guardians who are Catholic
- Children of other faith communities
In addition, the following criteria must be met:
- Pre-K4 & Kindergarten: Archdiocesan and MD State regulations require that students registering for Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2020.
- Grade 1: Archdiocesan and MD State regulations require that students registering for first grade must be 6 (six) years of age by September 1, 2020
- Grades Pre-K4-7: Acceptance is contingent upon review of transfer records, teacher recommendations, and/or testing results by St. Columba School.
- New Students: New students will be placed on probation for three (3) months. Academic and social progress will be reviewed by St. Columba staff, to determine if St. Columba School is able to meet the needs of the child.
Open Registration for school year 2019-2020 is scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2020.
The open application for the 2020-20209 Archdiocese of Washington Tuition Assistance Program will begin on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 and close at 12:00pm midnight.
The open application for NEW STUDENTS for 2020-2021 Archdiocese of Washington Tuition Assistance Program will expire on Friday, February 14, 2020
Applications for school year 2020-2021 will be accepted on an ongoing basis until all spaces are filled.
Please apply on-line at www.stccatholic.org. Scroll down and look for the TADS Admission and Enrollment icon on the left side of the website. After completion on-line, the following ORIGINAL documents are required at the time of the registration:
- Birth Certificate
- Baptismal Certificate (if Catholic)
- Letter of good standing from the parish where you are registered (Tuition Approval Form (if Catholic)
- ADW Immunization Form
- Recommendation letter from present teacher or current report card.
- Completed Authorization for Release of Information (done in School

After acceptance, a fee of $250.00 for Pre-K4 and $500.00 for K-8 for Instruction, Assessment and HSA Activities Fee of $100 will be charged.

New Student Testing for school year 2020-2021 is scheduled by appointments only.
Your child will not be scheduled for testing and your placement will be pending until all original documents are received.

Choosing the Right School
St. Columba School provides superior academics and values in a safe and supportive environment.
Yes! Potential students may benefit from a shadow day where they spend a full day at in the classroom. Pre-K4 can “shadow” for a half day. The child will meet fellow students, the teachers and staff, and get a feel for the schedule and atmosphere. You may schedule a shadow day with Mrs. Rickling during your school tour.
St. Columba School is a faith-based school that is open to both Catholic and non-Catholic families. Mass is held weekly and religion class is held daily. About 30% of our current student body is non-Catholic.
Yes, all the archdiocesan elementary and secondary schools within the Archdiocese of Washington are accredited by AdvancED.
Certification is presented by the NCA Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Yes! All applications for financial aid must be submitted online via TADS. Applications are closed for the 2020-2021 school year, but will open in October 2020 for the 2021-2022 school year.

School hours are from 7:50 a.m. – 2:50 p.m. The 1st Friday of each month is usually a half day with dismissal at 11:50 a.m.
Yes. Before Care begins at 6:45 a.m. and ends at 7:45 a.m. After Care begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. There is an additional fee for the ESP Program.
St. Columba School values education and not materialistic things, objects, or fads that would interfere with the learning process therefore students are required to wear a school uniform each school day. Academic uniforms must be purchased from Carousel located at the Shops at Waldorf Center, 2939 Festival Way, Waldorf, MD 20601. P.E. uniforms must be purchased from the school office.
St. Columba School offers hot lunch and milk daily. Parents will be given the opportunity to purchase these items in advances. If your child does not participate in the hot lunch program he/she will need to bring a lunch from home.
We offer Pre-K4 through 8th grade.
St. Columba has a PC replacement program. In our computer lab, all of our computers were replaced in 2019 with new PCs running Windows 10. Each classroom has access to computers, iPads, and televisions. Smartboards are available to students as well as applications that the school purchases such as IXL, Starfall, and Brainpop. We use Rediker which has an integrated Parentportal that allows parents to see data in real time such as grades, assignments, the school calendar and much more.

The ADW curriculum contains an educational framework designed to develop 21st century skills. All curriculum standards reflect a continuum of learning from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. curriculum documents are continually updated to ensure they are academically challenging and developmentally appropriate to encourage and nurture life-long learners.
In addition to the regular curriculum, St. Columba School offers weekly courses in P.E., Spanish, Art, and Library to all grades and Music to grades Pre-K4 to 5th grade.
