Distance Learning
Saint Columba School is dedicated to the fostering and preservation of both its students’ safety and academic progress, even in the midst of the pandemic. As soon as Maryland schools closed due to covid-19, Saint Columba was prepared and immediately began implementing its distance learning plan the very next week. We will continue to provide a strong, enriching educational experience for our students throughout this difficult time.
Students are taught curriculum appropriate skills and practices following the same instructional standards as would be taught in the physical classroom.
Assignments, resources, and announcements are posted onto each grade level’s google classroom. Instruction is delivered regular via zoom classes in order to provide students with more direct teacher guidance.
Students have been provided with textbooks and select physical materials by their grade level teacher. Students and families have access to various online resources including IXL, brainpop, razkids, and more.
Below is an sample idea of a class’ weekly schedule. Each grade level teacher has created their own individual schedule to best fit their students and instructional practices.
“Class time” may include zoom instruction, independent work time, specialized activities, etc.
